Star Thunderbird - "Control Panel"
9/5/0/2 *XL "Control Panel" stamped Star Thunderbirds!
How this batch of Star Thunderbird feels: Pretty flat to modest dome. 170-172 grams have noticeable dome. Big time Star plastic grip.
More about the stamp: Ever pretend your disc was a mechanical device with gizmos and doodads to dial-in before each shot? Artist Levi Whitpan has and he came up with a super fun what-if visualization for all us to enjoy.
It all started as a joke. “Hold on guys, my discs have been turned off this whole time,” Whitpan or his friends would occasionally say if they were having a bad start to the round. After a while, though, that joke got Whitpan thinking about a potential disc design – which initially was just a simple light switch with a piece of tape that read, “Always leave on.”
More Gizmos! But the more Whitpan thought about it, the more the design began to gain additional gadget and gizmo components. What resulted was a control panel any gearhead would love to work on. Check out the exposed wires. Not only do they tie-in the design’s many pieces, but they give the artwork that DIY, homemade feel Whitpan was going for – as if a basement tinkerer had made it from whatever spare parts he/she had.
More about the Innova Thunderbird disc: The Thunderbird can be described as a seasoned Firebird with less fade. It is predictable in wind and a great long range placement driver. Pros will appreciate the shot shaping ability of this driver while less experienced players will find a consistent, predictable flight.
Golden nuggets: Did you catch the Spinaltap movie reference for the Torque dial? And what about the Exclamation Point switch? “I think only the person that created this monster in their basement knows what it does for sure. Surely something cool!” said Whitpan.
