The 2017 Nate Sexton Tour Series Color Glow Firebird was a standout release that quickly became a favorite among disc golfers. Made from Innova’s Color Glow Champion plastic, this disc offered a perfect blend of grip, durability, and a softer feel compared to traditional Firebirds. The flight characteristics featured a reliable overstability, making it a go-to for forehand shots, skip shots, and windy conditions. The moderate dome provided extra glide compared to some other Firebird runs, while still maintaining a strong fade at the end. This disc became highly sought after, setting the stage for future Sexton Firebird releases.  

Compared to later releases, the 2017 Sexton Firebird has a touch more glide and a slightly less aggressive fade than some of the newer runs. The 2018 and 2019 versions introduced a stiffer plastic with a flatter top, leading to a more overstable and predictable fade, especially in high winds. The 2020 and 2021 runs had variations in dome, with some having a touch more glide, but still maintaining that signature Sexton Firebird control. While all Sexton Firebirds are known for their consistent overstability, the 2017 edition remains one of the most balanced runs, offering a smooth blend of glide and finish.
